5.1 Urgent Appeal: Help Support 30 Orphans Living on Bare Minimum

In Uganda, Samuel is a devoted caregiver to 30 orphans, ensuring they receive the basic necessities to survive. Despite his tireless efforts, these children are living on the bare minimum, with a monthly efficiency budget of only 2,930,000 UGX ($850). This amount is not enough to meet their essential needs, and they often struggle to cover even the most basic expenses.

Current Monthly Budget Breakdown:

  • Rent: 250,000 UGX ($70)
  • Posho (200 kg): 640,000 UGX ($179)
  • Rice (100 kg): 400,000 UGX ($112)
  • Beans (100 kg): 350,000 UGX ($98)
  • Food Ingredients: 180,000 UGX ($50)
  • Salt: 35,000 UGX ($10)
  • Sugar (50 kg): 175,000 UGX ($49)
  • Paraffin (20 Liters): 130,000 UGX ($36)
  • Charcoal (2 Sacks): 150,000 UGX ($42)
  • Soap (1 Box): 70,000 UGX ($20)
  • Vaseline (1 Box): 50,000 UGX ($14)
  • Toothpaste (1 Box): 100,000 UGX ($28)
  • Medical Care/Emergencies: 300,000 UGX ($84)
  • Internet: 100,000 UGX ($28)
  • Total: 2,930,000 UGX ($850)

Despite their circumstances, these children continue to smile and thrive thanks to Samuel’s unwavering commitment. However, the harsh reality is that they do not have enough money to meet even this minimal budget (about 20% of the operating budget). They often go without adequate food, healthcare, and other essential needs.
